I know we're in a period of popular culture where vampires are all the rage, so it's no surprise that there are a lot of vampire stories out there. And I know that people have their fetishes, so stories (or book covers) depicting a little light S&M don't really shock me either. But this one just grosses me out. If I were her, the second I felt that icky drip hit my lips, I'd scream the secret safe word ("Dolphin!!") and demand to be untied. Then I'd run far, far away.
Does anyone find this cover (as a whole) appealing? I know our male readers will enjoy the main image, but really, when you add in the bloody cherry.... Or maybe that's the subtext?!?! She just lost her virginity! Still. Ewwwww.

I didn't see the bloody cherry subtext (Ewww!) until you pointed it out. I did think of Twilight, because of the fruit image and because the bondage thing is sort of the polar opposite but also somehow strangely similar to the Mormon style sexual tension in those books.
At least Hamilton's covers are prettier than they used to be, and the fetish stuff, wells, fits what the series has become. Actually, I think there are several characters in her books that not only would not scream the secret safe word, they'd ask for more. Double ewww.
Yeah, this grosses me out. A lot.
I think the part that makes me a little ickied is the fact that she's the one dangling said cherry to her own lips. Ugh
I stopped reading Laura Hamilton quite a few books ago, and this cover isn't getting me back. Ick.
The more I hear/see, the more I am glad I've never read any Hamilton.
Ditto Elfkey. And why do you need a blindfold if you're the one feeding yourself? I guess just closing your eyes isn't as sexy.

I find it somewhat sexy... except for that cherry. Eww.
I read the first one, didn't go past that. Donna says the last one she read had about 50 pages of story, and the rest was just ... ewwwww.
This cover pretty much encapsulates the Anita Blake books for the past ten or so installments: ickily explicit, yet somehow all rather boring.
Oooh yeah. Greenish, waxy-skinned girls are so my type.
...and since this is the internet, I feel compelled to mention that I'M KIDDING.
For me, her covers are always MORE appealing than the actual stories.
