Some of you out there might have been wondering just where the hell I've been the last few months. Well, in addition to
fighting off sexbots, recovering from said sexbots, and enduring a double ear infection, I've been reading these books. I trust you'll understand why I had to stay locked up in my cave, away from the discerning public, while reading them once you've seen the covers.
Wow, that corpse is sure looking good (good being relative to a corpse, not to a normal human being with any fashion sense whatsoever), even with half her face missing. She's not laughing, though. TRUTH IN ADVERTISING!! Where's her ear? Did it go where the rest of her face went? To a better place than this book cover, I hope!
Who told this artist that half-a-face was intriguing? Was it the same person who taught the artist of the Longarm books? For some reason that idea pleases me.
Oh gods, it gets worse!! The '80s were not a good time for ANYONE'S hair!!
Leather-clad vampire babes with automatic weapons? I'd read that.

I just want to give the vampire on that last cover a good shampooing. Looks like he's got about 100 years of grease and product build-up.
Blurb on cover 2: "You'll want to read it in one sitting -- I did!"
Am I the only one who gets visions of severe lower intestinal distress being the main factor (either as a cause or simply sad correlation) in the "one sitting" involved here?
Is that David Hasselhoff on the second cover?!?
Michael Jackson may sue the artist for putting a still photo of the Thriller video on the first cover.
I've gotta say, the covers I have are much nicer-looking than the ones you have for the Anita Blake books. They're all sort of like these:

I want some crackers with that '80's cheese. Ick.
These covers are hideous! I definitely prefer the "modern" ones, like Calophi posted the links to...
The original covers were pulpy, and the fangs ridiculous. I defy any vampire to speak with such fangs and not get a pierced lip!
I'd settle for the bad covers if the writing had remained up the the standard of those first books with the lousy covers, though...
Warning - the first few Anita Blake series books are addictive, but she drags the series out waaay to long. I'm one of the suckers who wanted to know what happened next, and felt cheated every time. Towards the end nothing happens but hot monkey lovin' with random people. Without a little plot to carry it along, it's just bad vampire porn.
::sigh:: This was a series where you could once say, "the worse the covers the better the books." As the covers got prettier (shadowy images of people and body parts - says little about what's between the covers, but at least it's not embarrassingly bad art), the percentage of graphic sex went WAY up. I'm like Katherine and the anonymous commenter - I liked the earlier books more than the later ones.
