Fabulous!

I've already picked on Choose Your Own Adventure books here. But they're just soooooo rife with hilarity that I can't help but bring them around for ridicule again.

First is a little something I like to call, Your Code Name is Phallic Whale

Next up is Perspective is Not in My Dictionary, otherwise known as I Went to the Longarm School of Art

And finally, saving the best for last, I present to you Gay Viking Holiday*

*Okay, I stole this last one from someone's live journal icon over at The Society for Librarians* who say Motherfucker, but it's just sooooooo perfect!

Should we be worried that the phallic whale is coming out of the guy's butt?

(What's even scarier is that I read that book when I was a kid. That cover image is deeply scarred in my brain.)

i remember reading the first two years ago. yes, even then we all knew the covers were a bit odd.

I had "Your Code Name is Jonah" in fourth grade and read it many times. It actually taught me how to survive if I'm swimming toward shore and a tide is carrying me parallel to the shore. (Answer: Swim against the current and you drown. Swim straight to shore and you make it, just further down the beach. Swim with the current and you overshoot the island, but get saved by a whale (no joke)! I hope I never have to test that theory. I'd hate to have to depend on a whale.

C'mon, cut 'em some slack! The rainbow thing is direct from Norse mythology, and there's really not much you can do to a rainbow to make it look less fabulous. Come to think of it, Norse mythology is also replete with implicit homoeroticism. Hmmm.

Folks are right - there are hidden phalluses everywhere. In "Jonah", there's the old guy's chin, the whale and the lighthouse.

Don't get me started on "The Trumpet of Terror", either.

That icon is by iconzicons (http://community.livejournal.com/iconzicons). :D They've made CYOA icons out of a TON of covers, and most of them are hilarious. :D

I'm deeply ashamed to admit that I'm pretty sure that I've read all three.

When was that Norse myth book published?

Just after a certain German Opera, centuries ago?

Vikings NEVER had horns on their helmets, they were too smart to have someting that could get stuck in low ceilings, low-hanging branches, the occasional fishing-net or whatever other hazards they would run into when 'visiting' forreign lands...

Besides, a helmet in itself is heavy enough, and the weight of the horns...

*Sigh*
